The FIA’s International Court of Appeal has upheld the decision to exclude Daniel Ricciardo from his second place finish in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. The Australian’s maiden podium for his new team evaporated after the FIA disqualified him over a breach of the fuel-flow rate regulations. The Red Bull Racing team went against that technical directive as they used its own measurement device.
A statement from the FIA revealed that “The Court, after having heard the parties and examined their submissions, decided to uphold the Decision N°56 of the Stewards by which they decided to exclude Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s car N°3 from the results of the 2014 Australian Grand Prix,”
Meanwhile, the team accepted the outcome and vowed to move on from this and concentrate on this weekend’s Chinese Grand Prix. This also leaves Ricciardo at 10th in the championship standings, while the team is at fourth overall.
Despite the disappointment, Ricciardo remained positive: “I’m stronger for it and hungrier than ever to get back on the podium. Not that I need any more motivation, I’m pumped!”
