A recent accident along the winding roads of Genting Highlands has captured widespread attention. A 27-year-old driver lost control of his Honda CR-Z while en route to Genting Highlands, resulting in an accident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Following the incident, the driver took the responsible step of filing a police report at the Goh Tong Jaya police station in Hulu Selangor at 11.05 pm in hopes that he could claim insurance for car.
Well, the truth can never be buried as social media has since turned the situation against him. A TikTok user known as Marcus shared a video featuring the same Honda CR-Z, allegedly seen driving recklessly and allegedly believed to have been involved in illegal street racing.

In the footage, the driver misjudged a sharp turn, taking it at excessive speed, which led to understeering. As a result, he lost control and entered the pit by the side of the road causing the accident. It can be seen that there were another three cars behind him who stopped as soon as the incident occured. The viral video quickly caught the attention of the authorities, prompting them to summon the driver for an explanation.
The case is now under investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to reckless and dangerous driving according to Bentong police chief Zaiham Kahar.
“The actions of the driver endangered other road users,” he said in the statement.
The Genting Highlands roads are well-known among driving enthusiasts, particularly for “Touge Racing” – a term used for spirited driving along the mountain passes.
While many thrill-seekers enjoy the challenge, it is crucial to remember that reckless driving endangers not just the driver but also other road users. Safety should always be the priority when navigating these treacherous roads.
