While BMW stole the spotlight with the fire-breathing M3 CS Touring super-estate, the German marque didn’t stop there. Say hello to the refreshed 2025 BMW iX—a best-selling electric crossover that just got a slick new makeover and some serious tech boosts.
Streamlined Line-Up, More Power
For 2025, BMW has shaken up the iX range with a trio of new variants. The line-up kicks off with the new xDrive45 base model, followed by the mid-tier xDrive60.
Sitting at the top of the pile is the new performance powerhouse—the M70 xDrive, replacing the outgoing M60 flagship.
Sharper Looks, More Presence
Aesthetically, the 2025 iX gets a sharper, more futuristic look. Up front, redesigned adaptive LED headlights now feature a fresh LED DRL signature, while the kidney grilles get a subtle revamp. At the rear, tweaks to the reverse lights and fog lamps complete the facelift.
For the first time, the xDrive45 and xDrive60 variants can be specced with the M Sport Package, adding an extra dose of aggression.
Meanwhile, the M70 xDrive gets the M Sport Package as standard, but this time with an even sharper aero kit. Want more attitude? The M Sport Package Pro throws in M Shadow Line lights and vertical reflectors for extra street cred.
Cabin Refresh: A Premium Playground
Inside, BMW has made its high-tech lounge even more premium. The 2025 iX now comes with the Atelier design package as standard, while optional Loft and Suite trims offer unique material and colour combinations. Opt for the M Sport package, and you’ll get sportier interior accents to match the aggressive exterior.
The BMW Curved Display setup remains, but now both the 12.3-inch digital cluster and 14.9-inch infotainment screen are powered by the latest BMW Operating System 8.5 with Quick Select, making the interface slicker and more intuitive.
More Power, More Range, More Thrills
Under the skin, each variant gets a solid performance bump:
- xDrive45: Now packing 402 HP and 700 NM of torque, this entry model sprints from 0-100 KM/H in just 5.1 seconds, with a top speed of 200 KM/H. A bigger 94.8 kWh battery delivers between 490 KM and 602 KM of WLTP-rated range. Charging? Standard 11 kW AC, optional 22 kW AC, and DC fast-charging capped at 175 kW.
- xDrive60: With 536 HP and 765 NM, this mid-tier model hits 0-100 KM/H in 4.6 seconds while still being electronically limited to 200 KM/H. A beefed-up 109.1 kWh battery stretches range to between 563 KM and 701 KM, while DC fast-charging maxes out at 195 kW.
- M70 xDrive: The real beast of the range, delivering a staggering 650 HP and 1,015 NM (or 1,100 NM with Launch Control!). It rockets from 0-100 KM/H in just 3.8 seconds, with a higher top speed of 250 KM/H. Strangely, its battery is slightly smaller than the xDrive60 at 108.9 kWh, but it still offers a solid 521 KM to 600 KM of WLTP-rated range.
The Verdict?
From the looks of it, the 2025 BMW iX proves that even small tweaks can make a big impact. With sharper styling, an improved cabin, and stronger performance across the board, BMW’s flagship EV crossover is ready to keep turning heads and setting benchmarks.
If you’re in the market for a premium electric SUV with serious road presence, this one should definitely be on your radar!
