Leapmotor might be relatively new to the automotive game, but the Chinese automaker is proving it’s no rookie.
In a recent press release, Leapmotor announced an impressive 2024 sales figure of 293,724 units, cementing its spot as one of China’s top new energy vehicle (NEV) brands.
Big Numbers at Home
Much of Leapmotor’s success came from its home turf. December 2024 alone saw a staggering 42,517 units sold in China—a massive 128% year-on-year increase.
This performance has boosted Leapmotor’s rank to third among NEV startups launched in the last decade and seventh among all Chinese NEV brands. Not bad for a company still building its name in the industry.
Expanding Across the Globe
It wasn’t just the domestic market where Leapmotor made waves. The automaker has been rapidly growing its global presence, wrapping up 2024 with 410 sales points worldwide and over 3,165 international orders.
Key to this global push has been Leapmotor International, a joint venture formed in October 2023 with automotive heavyweight Stellantis.
With this partnership, Leapmotor has expanded into more than 25 international markets, with plans to hit even bigger milestones in 2025.
Speaking of big plans, Leapmotor International is aiming for 500,000 total sales this year.
Front and centre of this goal is the Leapmotor C10 EV SUV, the brand’s flagship export model making waves in nearly all its overseas markets.
The Leapmotor C10 in Malaysia
The China EV arrived on Malaysian shores back in October 2023, offering just one variant called ‘Design’.
This D-segment EV SUV comes loaded with a 69.9 kWh LFP battery pack, powering a rear-mounted motor that churns out 218 PS and 320 Nm of torque.
It boasts a WLTP-rated range of 424 km, making it a solid contender in the EV space.
Priced at RM159,000, the C10 came with an RM10,000 rebate for early bookings placed before the end of November 2024.
The good news? That rebate is making a comeback this month as part of Stellantis Malaysia’s Chinese New Year sales campaign, so now might be the perfect time to snag one.
What’s Next?
With a strong performance in 2024 and an aggressive push into global markets, the automaker is clearly a brand on the rise.
Backed by Stellantis and a growing line-up of EVs, it’s only a matter of time before we see even more of these cars on roads both at home and abroad.
If you’re looking to go electric in style, the C10 might just be worth checking out.
