Thanks to a tweet by Elon Musk, Tesla will be tentatively unveiling their semi truck in October. You can probably guess that it will be an electric truck for sure. This makes it rather interesting to see Tesla making waves into an industry where fuel costs are extremely important.
Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride tentatively scheduled for Oct 26th in Hawthorne. Worth seeing this beast in person. It’s unreal.

An electric truck can be completely different compared to a car where weight and drivability may hinder the number of batteries needed for a longer range. With a semi truck, having more batteries to increase range might be more of a key factor instead.
Interestingly as well would be how this will all fit into Tesla’s plans for autonomous driving technology as the trucking and logistics industry can really benefit from such technology. Musk did say that they will provide a test drive so it’s likely that the introduction would still be one that requires a driver.
But Musk did say there will be some surprises so perhaps an advanced autopilot system for the electric semis? We can only find out in October. In the meantime, loads of memes are starting to appear on the web.
