Hyundai Ioniq has won the 2016 Good Design Awards, in recognition of successful application of its design philosophy. This is the second consecutive year the Ioniq received the design award.

The oldest and the most prestigious architecture and design awards program organized worldwide, the Good Design award brought together an international jury of design professionals, architects, experts and cultural leaders to select their favourite designs and graphics.

The annual awards program has been developed by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design in recognition of the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product, and graphic designs from around the world.

Among the thousands of world-leading industrial and graphic design firms and manufacturers being evaluated, Hyundai stood out for its product, highlighting the competitiveness of the brand’s design strategy and output.

Launched in Malaysia just a couple of months ago, the Hyundai Ioniq is the first in the world to offer three distinct electrified powertrains on a single, dedicated vehicle platform – Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Electric. It meets the needs of a large and growing group of buyers needing a highly efficient, low-emissions vehicle without compromise to their demand on aerodynamic design as well as vehicle performance.

In Malaysia, the Ioniq is available in two variants with a starting price of RM99,888 (without insurance and road tax) for the HEV and RM110,388 (without insurance and road tax) for the HEV Plus. Both variants is powered by a 1.6-litre GDI 4-cylinder Kappa engine paired to a 32 kW electric motor, allowing for a combined output of 141 PS and 265 Nm. A 6-speed dual-clutch automatic drives the front wheels.
