Mazda Motor Corporation has announced its collaboration with Isuzu Motors Limited to develop a next-generation pick-up truck, allowing Isuzu to enhance its product competitiveness and Mazda to strengthen its product line-up and maintain own-brand market coverage.
Previously, Mazda collaborated with Ford to produce the BT-50, a rebadged version of the global Ford Ranger pickup truck. Once the BT-50 ends production, Isuzu will then produce the next-generation pick-up truck for Mazda, based on Isuzu’s pick-up truck model, according to the partnership agreement.
This isn’t the first truck collaboration between the two companies as both Mazda and Isuzu have developed a collaborative relationship for more than 10 years, with Isuzu producing Mazda trucks for the Japanese market. Further details of this latest tie-up are scarce, but it is confirmed that the pick-up will be sold globally except in the North American market.
