Land Rover Malaysia has achieved its best ever sales this millennium with a record 1,003 registration of Land Rover vehicles in 2013. This is the first time that Land Rover Malaysia’s sales crossed the 1,000 mark since 1997.
In 1997, Land Rover Malaysia’s sales figures were boosted by the legendary Defender, which was the “staple” four wheel vehicle used by the field force and the police. The figures for 2013 are a marked improvement from the 247 units registered in 2011 with a more than 400% increase in sales over a period of two years.
Jaguar Land Rover Asia Pacific Importers Managing Director Russell M Anderson attributed the performance to fantastic teamwork at Land Rover Malaysia. “2013 saw Asia Pacific lead the world in Land Rover sales growth, with Land Rover Malaysia leading the way in the Asia Pacific Importer Region. This is a fantastic team achievement by everyone at Land Rover Malaysia, building on two extremely strong years of retail sales and with the upcoming launch of the new Range Rover Sport, 2014 promises to be another record breaking year,” he said.
The accomplishment is due to the strong demand for the Range Rover Evoque, which was launched in 2011. The vehicle has been the biggest selling Range Rover ever, winning numerous accolades in both the local and international motoring fronts. Notable achievements include Best Compact SUV at the Asian Auto Fuel Efficiency Awards 2012 and Premium SUV Car of the Year 2012 during the coveted CBT Maybank Car of the Year Awards.
The Evoque compliments Land Rover’s range of four wheel drive vehicles namely the iconic Defender, the Freelander 2, the Discovery 4, the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport. The Defender maintains its place amongst enthusiasts and those who love off road driving. The abundance of tracks in the lush tropical forests of Malaysia provide the avenue to fulfill this endeavour.
The latest model launched by Land Rover Malaysia is the new Range Rover, an award winning ultra-premium SUV showcasing the best of Land Rover. This year, the company will be launching the New Range Rover Sport, another eagerly awaited model by Land Rover lovers. No dates have been announced yet, but stay close as we will bring you more details when it officially arrives in Malaysia.
