Spied! 2016 Ford Everest caught on PLUS, confirms Trend variant

During our drive back to town during the Petron Fuel Happy Road Trip 2016, we spotted this undisguised Ford Everest cruising on the PLUS highway.

This was not our first encounter with the Ford Everest, as we’ve spied the range-topping Ford Everest Titanium two months ago. Our latest spyshot indicates that Sime Darby Auto Connexion will also debut a Trend variant of the Everest.

Powering the Ford Everest Trend is the same 2.2-litre Duratorq four-cylinder TDCi diesel engine, producing 160 PS at 3,200 rpm and 385 Nm from 1,600 rpm to 2,500 rpm. The sole transmission choice is a six-speed SelectShift automatic.

Visually, the Trend gets body-coloured wing mirrors, smaller 18-inch alloy wheels and manual levelling halogen head lights with daytime running lights. Door handles on the Trend are also body-coloured, as opposed to the chrome ones on the Titanium variant.

Safety kit is expected to be largely similar between both variants, though we expect to see the Trend variant with lesser airbags, though active safety kit like ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Roll Stability Control will be standard across the range. Furthermore, the Trend variant won’t be equipped with the Ford Terrain Management System (TMS).

SDAC is expected to launch the new Everest in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that!
