With less than 3 weeks till the 2016 Beijing Auto Show opens its doors, the newest member of Mazda’s crossover family, the CX-4, has been spotted looking completely undisguised ahead of its global reveal.
Inspired by the Koeru Concept which was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show last year, the CX-4 adopts a coupe-like profile and it wears Mazda’s signature grille, flanked by slim headlights with LED technology.
At the rear, the automaker has thrown in taillights similar to what can be found on the rest of the range, joined together by a chrome strip. The model’s signature cue is the rakish roofline, which gives it a sportier stance.
Inside, the CX-4 features a dashboard that looks similar to the one from the Mazda 3, with a floating center display controllable through the rotary knob fitted behind the gearshift lever, identical dials that sit behind a multi-function steering wheel and an electronic parking brake.
Mazda has yet to release the CX-4’s powertrain information, but according to China’s Auto163, the Mazda CX-4 is expected to get two four-cylinder petrol engines, a 158hp 2.0-litre and a 192hp 2.5-litre, adopted from the CX-5.
In terms of dimensions, the CX-4 is slightly longer than the CX-5 at 4633mm in length, with similar width of 1840mm, but a little shorter than the CX-5 at 1535mm. It also shares a similar wheelbase as the CX-5 at 2700mm.
Rumor has it that Mazda CX-4 will only be available exclusively for the China market but we’ll keep you informed with more details once the crossover is officially unveiled on April 25 at the Beijing Auto Show, so stay close!
