UMW Toyota Motor has announced that the soon-to-be-launched Toyota Hilux is now open for booking from today onwards.
Available in 6 variants, below is the summary of the confirmed On-The Road (OTR) price:
The eighth-generation Hilux pickup truck was officially unveiled in Bangkok May last year and it has been improved to provide better performance, as well as focusing more on the comfort of the passengers and making it easier to drive.
For our local market, the Toyota Hilux will be offered in new diesel engine family under the GD code. The two four-cylinder motors highlight more low-end torque and efficiency rather than outright power when compared to its predecessors.
The 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine produces 150hp and 343Nm of torque, while the 2.8-litre variant generates 177hp and 420Nm of torque. The 2.4L engine can be be paired either with a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox with the option of 2WD or 4WD system, while the 2.8L engine is only available in 6-speed automatic.
In a bid to attract more buyers, the Toyota Hilux is given a rugged yet refined appearance achieved by contrasting the front panel with its sturdy bumper section and the integrated look of the slender upper grille and LED headlamps.
Depending on variants, inside the cabin, there’s a 4.2-inch multi-information display along with 7-inch touchscreen that houses smartphone connectivity, WiFi, voice recognition, HDMI, USB, Bluetooth, navigation system & reverse camera with guide lines.
In terms of safety, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dual Airbags, ISOFIX comes standard in all variants while the top of the line 2.8G variant comes complete with Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Trailer Sway Control (TSC) as well as 7 airbags.
The all-new Toyota Hilux is expected to make its Malaysian debut sometime next month. In the meantime, you can browse its full model specification here.
