Ford unveiled the third-generation Ford Everest at the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show, and mentioned that the new SUV will be launched here in late 2015. Despite some delays, it appears that the new Everest will be launched real soon, as these spyshots show.
Finished in a shade of red called Sunset, this 2016 Ford Everest is of the range topping 3.2 Titanium trim, which includes massive 20-inch wheels wrapped with 265/50R20 Goodyear EfficientGrip SUV tires all round, front parking sensors and projector headlights with HID.
The 2016 Ford Everest will be powered by a 3.2-litre Duratorq five-cylinder TDCi turbodiesel engine with 147 kW of power and 470 Nm of torque. In Malaysia, the Everest is expected to be fitted exclusively with the six-speed automatic transmission.
While we were unable to peek inside, this Thai-assembled Ford Everest should feature the same kit, including leather seats, dual-panel moon roof, first-in-class powered liftgate, over 30 storage spaces, multiple power outlets and cleverly designed flat-folding seats.
The new Ford Everest sports an intelligent four-wheel drive system, an active transfer case with Torque on Demand, Terrain Management System, and ground clearance of 225 mm and water-wading capability of 800 mm. The Terrain Management System allows the driver to choose from several presets, namely Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand and Rock. The new Ford Everest features coil spring front and rear suspension and a Watt’s linkage on the rear axle for better handling.
As we noted earlier, the 2016 Ford Everest won’t be cheap. The base model is said to carry a price of just below RM200,000, while this Titanium variant could fetch well above RM200,000.
The 2016 Ford Everest is said to debut officially within the next few weeks, so stay tuned for more updates!
