Ahead of the 12th 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi, Ford has unveiled its Figo compact sedan concept. The global debut of this sub-four-metre sedan marks Ford’s entry into the compact sedan segment.

As part of Ford’s new design language, the Ford Figo concept carries a familiar trapezoidal grille that’s reminiscent of the new Ford Fiesta while the sleek looking rear ends gives the Figo a high-end image. The Ford Figo Concept was fine-tuned through hundreds of hours of wind-tunnel testing to improve aerodynamics and reduce wind noise, ensuring a quiet ride and improved fuel economy.

One of the Figo’s Smart design features are its electrically adjustable power-fold mirrors which benefit form a flexible architecture that diminishes the risks of being ripped off after colliding with another car or a motorbike.

Apart from that, the Figo Concept also introduces a new way to store, mount and charge devices such as mobile phones, MP3 players and satellite navigation systems, seamlessly integrating them into the in-car entertainment system.

Ford hasn’t said anything about a launch date but taking into account this concept looks pretty much production ready, a nearly identical model will likely hit Indian showrooms later this year or early 2015.
