Bermaz Motor, the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles in Malaysia has previewed the upcoming facelifted Mazda CX-5 CKD.
The facelifted CKD variant will be available in both 2.0- and 2.5-litre variants. The large capacity variant can be had in both 2WD and AWD, while the 2.0-litre can only be had with a 2WD configuration.
Up front, the facelifted Mazda CX-5 CKD features the same design as the outgoing CBU variant, including the new front grille and signature wing design. The headlights now feature LEDs, coupled with LED daytime running lights. The rear end gains the same LED tail light as the Japan-assembled model. Both 2.5-litre variants get 19-inch wheels, while the 2.0-litre variant makes do with 17-inch units. Front fog light are also uses LEDs for illumination.
Inside, the facelift gains a new MZD Connect infotainment system with a large 7-inch touchscreen display and multi-function commander control. Leather trim is available on AWD models, while the 2WD model gets fabric upholstery. All variants get six speakers as standard, as well as push start button, reverse camera, rear air vent and auto dimming rear view mirror. The CKD variant loses out on the sunroof that was offered on the CBU variant.
In terms of safety, all variants of the Mazda CX-5 gets ABS, EBD, Brake Assists, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control System (TCS) and six airbags as standard fitment.
Powering the 2.0-litre variant is a SkyActiv-G 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that pumps out 155 hp at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm. The 2.5-litre model gets a SkyActiv-G 2.5-litre that pushes out 185 hp at 5,700 rpm. Both 2.5-litre variants have 250 Nm of torque to play with, but the 2WD variant get its peak torque delivered at 3,250 rpm, while the 4WD variant gets its full 250 Nm at 4,000 rpm. All models are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.
From the previous variants’ five model lineup, now the lineup gets trimmed down to just four models. Starting from the base is the 2.0-litre 2WD Mazda CX-5, which will be available in Mid or High trim. The 2.5-litre variant gets a 2WD or 4WD option. Prices have yet to be announced, so stay tuned!
