Those plying the North-South Expressway (NSE), the ELITE highway and the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and pay toll electronically for their long distance traveled (more than 100km) on 4, 11 and 15 February in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays will be able to enjoy a 30% toll rebate!
According to Noorizah, the public paying toll electronically will still be required to pay the full toll charges on 4, 11 and 15 February. However, the 30% toll rebate (in a form of toll reload) can be redeemed at all PLUS customer service centres between 15 March 2016 and 14 June 2016.
For example, a highway user travelling between Jalan Duta Toll Plaza and Ipoh Selatan Toll Plaza will be able to save RM7.95 in a form toll reload as follows:-
Entry Toll Plaza |
Exit Toll Plaza |
Toll Charges |
Savings Through 30% Eligible Rebate |
Jalan Duta | Ipoh Selatan | RM26.50 | RM7.95 |
Sungai Besi | Skudai | RM41.30 | RM12.39 |
“The rebate is offered to users travelling on off-peak days and is aimed at helping us to distribute traffic,” said PLUS Managing Director, Dato’ Noorizah Hj Abd Hamid.
It is also an effort to encourage the public to switch to electronic toll payment system which is easier and faster.
“The toll rebate can be enjoyed throughout the day on the above dates and is not restricted to a particular time frame,” Noorizah explained.
PLUS anticipates that traffic on the NSE will increase by 20% to 1.6 million vehicles per day on peak days on 5, 6, 7, 9, 13 and 14 February. PLUS will also issue a Travel Time Advisory (TTA) soon to help the public plan their journey and avoid traffic congestion on Peak Days during the holidays.
