Ford has denied plans to develop an even hotter variant of the Fiesta, which effectively ends all speculations of the extreme hatch.
Tyrone Johnson, chief engineer at Ford Performance said that the Fiesta RS is not in the plans, reports Drive.com.au.
“So typically we don’t talk about future product, but on that particular one because there has been so much chatter, there has been comments along the lines of “not in the plan. Would I love to see a 700hp Fiesta? Yes. Will it ever happen? No.”
The Ford Fiesta RS was earlier rumoured to be powered by the same engine as the Fiesta ST, albeit with more power extracted from its 1.6-litre EcoBoost mill. Also rumoured was that the Fiesta RS would have bespoke suspension tuning, in addition to the power hike.
Despite that, the boys at Ford Performance is still busy developing new models, as the company aims to launch another seven new performance models by 2020. In line with Ford’s vision, the new models will be available globally.
