Seemingly quick after BMW shown us the Concept Compact Sedan in China, spyshots have emerged from the PRC allegedly showing the new sedan undergoing tests.
Set to rival the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA, the new 1-Series sedan will be sitting on BMW’s UKL2 platform, which is found on the 2-Series Active Tourer.
Sources from Autohome.com.cn mentioned that the 1-Series sedan will be built by BMW’s Brilliance-BMW joint venture, and will be available with a 1.5-litre three cylinder engine which drives the front wheels.
The prototype shown here carries over most of the design language from the Concept Compact Sedan, including the shape of the C-pillar and rear tail lamp design. The concept’s muffler-in-bumper has been dropped in favour of a more traditional muffler configuration, and the large multi-spoke wheels has made way for more sensible (smaller) wheels.
Stay tuned for more updates!
