Australians are a lucky bunch, as they have just received their first shipment of the iconic American pony car, the Ford Mustang.
Similar to what we would be getting, the Aussie-specced Ford Mustangs is available with either a 2.3-litre EcoBoost inline-four or a 5.0-litre V8. 86% of the Mustangs headed to Australia are of the V8-powered variants, reported Motoring.com.au.
Thus far, Ford Australia has collected 4,000 bookings for the pony car, and 80% have paid the deposit. The bookings now accounts for the Mustang’s first year allocation for Australia. Buyers who missed the first window of opportunity is expected to wait at least another 12 months.
“We are simply overwhelmed and humbled by the reception to Mustang thus far, which is probably our closest equivalent to the Beatles’ first trip to Australia,” said Ford Australia President and CEO, Graeme Whickman.
Ford Malaysia has earlier teased that the new Mustang will be arriving to our shores later this month.
