UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMW Toyota Motor) handed over a brand new Toyota Fortuner to the Borneo Conservation Trust (BCT) yesterday as part of the proceeds raised from the 2015 Toyota Classics. The annual corporate social responsibility event that fuses beautiful music and philanthropy, raised RM333,600 to aid efforts in protecting the wildlife.

BCT will be using the Toyota Fortuner to boost its Green Corridor programme along the rivers of Kinabatangan, Segama and central forest of Sabah. Funds raised from the 2015 Toyota Classics also benefited the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) and World Wide Fund for Nature Malaysia (WWF), who received more than RM80,000 each.

At the handover ceremony, Datuk Ismet Suki President of UMW Toyota Motor said, “As part of our CSR efforts are to contribute to environmental sustainability, we see the significance in supporting these NGOs in their resolve for a better living environment. We hope the proceeds from this year’s Toyota Classics would enable them to continue protecting Malaysia’s wildlife”.

To date, the Toyota Classics concerts in Malaysia have raised close to RM 8 million to benefit 63 charitable and non-governmental organizations. Since its inception in 1990, Toyota Classics has held over 184 sell-out classical concerts in Asia, and raised approximately USD 7 million (approximately RM26 million) over the last 25 years.
