ZF Services, the aftersales business unit of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, is expanding its range of spare parts in OE quality for Malaysia as well as throughout ASEAN and Taiwan. By 2017, the full range of shock absorbers, tie rod ends, tie rod axle joints, ball joints, track control arms and link stabilisers will be available for Asian car brands including Perodua, Proton, Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda, and others.
The expanded product portfolio will extend ZF Service’s lead as a single-source supplier of high quality spare parts covering the top 100 Asian car models on the road in each country across Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
“Market estimates show that there are approximately 34 million 1 passenger cars that are aged 3 years and above on the roads in ASEAN and Taiwan. We expect demand for maintenance products to continue to grow across the markets,” said Andre Scholle, Regional General Manager, Aftermarket (OES/IAM), ZF Asia Pacific.
“In our key markets of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, analysts put the number of Asian cars on the road at more than 4 times the number of Continental cars. ZF has a strong standing in providing parts for European cars and now our expanding portfolio of OE-quality shock absorbers as well as steering and suspension parts will support our customers, partners and the large number of Asian vehicle owners in the region.”
The new products comprise ZF Services’ Sachs brand of shock absorbers and the Lemförder brand of steering and suspension parts.

To date, more than 350 Sachs shock absorbers have been introduced in ASEAN and Taiwan. This includes shock absorbers for more than 50 of the most popular Asian car models in the key automotive markets of Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. ZF Services is currently expanding its current range to achieve 95% of market coverage for Asian Passenger Car brands.
ZF Services’ Lemförder brand currently offers close to 340 steering and suspension products in ASEAN and Taiwan, for popular car brands such as Mazda, Nissan and Toyota. By 2017, the product portfolio will be expanded to cover car brands Honda, Proton, Perodua and Suzuki across the region.
