After showing up at GIIAS in prototype form in August and after we have test driven it in Japan in November, the Honda BR-V is back now in production guise at the 2015 Thailand International Motor Expo!
The active sport crossover vehicle made its first public debut alongside 12 Honda models under the concept of “Ignite Your Drive” at the 32nd Thailand International Motor Expo, which runs from December 2nd until 13th, 2015 at Challenger Hall 2, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.
Mr. Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Chief Operating Officer of Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “This year, Honda booth concept is “Ignite Your Drive” to let you experience our advanced automobiles filled with unique Honda characteristics that complete coverage of your needs and perfectly fulfills your lifestyle preferences.
“The highlights are the sport utility vehicles that cover SUV categories in all segment; Honda CR-V, a luxurious and elegant SUV, Honda HR-V, a premium sport crossover that received a highly favorable response with orders exceeding 40,000 units since its launching date, and the latest Honda BR-V, an active sport crossover that fit with all active lifestyles of the new generation, especially customers in compact and sub-compact segments. Honda BR-V stands out with its sturdy exterior, sporty look, and high ground clearance that make it ready to challenge all paths. This is the first SUV in its class to offer 7 seats in 3 rows. It is being unveiled to you for the first time today before its official launch early next year,” he added.
The all-new Honda BR-V looks distinctively sporty with its projector headlights with LED Position Lamp, LED tail lights in C shape design, and new 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels.
The BR-V is powered by a 1.5-litre SOHC, 4-cylinder, 16-valve i-VTEC engine that delivers 117hp at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 146Nm at 4,700 rpm, paired with a new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Honda’s “Earth Dreams Technology”.
The interior design features a spacious and comfortable cabin with two seating styles designed for versatile uses: 7 seats in 3 rows with multi-adjustable functions, and 5 seats in 2-row configuration with large utility space. It is also equipped an automatic air-conditioning system and rear-passenger air vents between front and second row seats to distribute air flow to all zones of the cabin.
The new active sport crossover is fully equipped with advanced functionalities, convenience features along with high-standard safety systems such as dual SRS airbag, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HAS).
The standard Honda BR-V is currently on display at the Motor Expo alongside another model fitted with several Modulo accessories as seen on the photo gallery below. The BR-V is expected to hit the Thai market first sometime early next year.
