Edaran Tan Chong Motor has officially previewed the all-new Nissan Navara NP300, which will be available in six variants, including five twin cab variants and one single cab variant. With a total of six variants, ETCM has a Navara for everyone.
ETCM claims that the all-new Navara NP300 is the most powerful 2.5-litre pick up truck in its segment, with a total of 190 PS at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm of torque from just 2,000 rpm. Power comes from Nissan’s third-generation YD25DDTi 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine, which can be had with a seven-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. Despite that, only the range-topping VL grade gets the full 190 PS and 450 Nm, while the lesser models will get 163 PS and 403 Nm of torque.
The E and SE (MT) grade are the only two twin cab variants that are available with a stick shift. The rest, including the SE (AT), V and VL grades are mated exclusively to the seven-speed automatic. Unlike the single cab variant, all twin cab models are fitted with a rear multi-link suspension with shock absorbers.
Looking closer at the range-topping VL grade Navara NP300, the Thailand-assembled model gets all the bells and whistles, including a pair of LED headlights up front with LED daytime running lights (DRL), rear spoiler, roof rail and 18-inch alloy wheels all round. Inside, the top-of-the-line model gets full leather upholstery, steering mounted audio controls, cruise control, Advanced Driver Assist Display (ADAD), Intelligent Key (i-Key) with push start ignition, 8-way adjustable powered driver seat and a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity.
As for the mid-range V and SE grades, front headlights are of the halogen type, with matching halogen DRLs. These variants still get the rear spoiler, though the roof rail isn’t included. As for the interior, fabric is used instead of leather, while the V grade gets the same infotainment system as the range-topping variant as well as the i-Key system. Lesser variants will have to make do with a wide 2-DIN radio with AUX and USB connectivity. All twin cab variants also get six speakers inside.
The lowest grade twin cab variant is the E grade. This variant is similar to the single cab variant, save for the rear spoiler and rear suspension configuration. The E grade is equipped with a regular key entry like the SE variants.
The entry level single cab variant is the workhorse variant, which features the new 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine, mated to a six-speed manual. This 4WD base line variant has 16-inch steel wheels all round. Unlike the twin cab variants, the basic Navara gets rear multi-leaf spring with shock absorber set up. The Nissan Navara single cab gets a vinyl interior and a basic FM radio with CD player.
In terms of safety, all Navara variants come standard with twin airbags up front, while ABS, EBD, BA, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Traction Control System (TCS), Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Hill Descent Control are available on all twin cab variants, except the E grade.
Estimated prices start from RM85,000 for the basic single cab variant, up to RM125,000 for the VL grade. The E grade has an estimated price of RM95,000, while the SE (MT) is estimated to retail for RM104,000. The automatic SE variant will have an estimated price of RM109,000. Lastly, the V grade has an estimated price tag of RM115,000. Actual prices will be announced when the new truck is officially launched at the end of this month.
