Subaru’s tuning arm, Subaru Tecnica International (STI), will launch a limited-edition model based on the famed WRX STI on December 1, 2015. Just 400 units of the model, called the S207, will be made available.
STI engineers have reworked the Subaru WRX’s engine, which now produces 328 PS and 440 Nm of torque. Very impressive numbers, considering that the engine is a two-litre boxer has been left relatively untouched. The Subaru WRX STI S207 features a unique engine control unit (ECU), exclusive twin-scroll ball bearing turbocharger, reworked exhaust system with an STI-embossed rear muffler and a STI-designed strengthened silicon intake duct.
Handling wise, the new Subaru WRX STI S207 will feature a quick steering ratio of 11:1, STI components including a flexible tower bar, DampMatic® II front suspension with adjustable damping , and front-rear Active Torque Vectoring. Braking power is courtesy of Brembo 6-pot brakes in front and 4-pot brakes at the rear, both featuring monoblock opposed-piston brake calipers and drilled rotors. The S207 rides on specially-designed 255/35R19 Dunlop Sport Maxx RT rubbers all round.
The interior of the S207 also receives some STI goodness, like the STI instrument panel, exclusive leather-wrapped steering wheel, STI-designed push start button and STI-designed gear knob. Hugging both the driver and front passenger are a pair of STI-spec Recaro front bucket seats with SRS airbags.
True to the spirit of the Nurburgring 24-Hour Race, Subaru will be offering a “NBR Challenge Package” for the S207. This package consists of an exclusive dry carbon rear spoiler and an ornament commemorating Subaru’s victory in the SP3T class in the 2015 Nurburgring 24-Hour Race. The “NBR Challenge Package” will be limited to just 200 units.
The S207 is available in three body colors, namely WR Blue Pearl, Crystal White Pearl, and Crystal Black Silica. Additionally, a 100 unit limited run of the “NBR Challenge Package Yellow Edition” in vivid Sunrise Yellow will be on offer as a special model. Only 400 units of the Subaru WRX STI S207 will be made.
