ASEAN NCAP issues official statement in response to Proton’s top-tether omission

2013 Proton Saga

Following the recent updates on the exclusion of top tether by Proton in one of its tested models by ASEAN NCAP, the local automaker had announced their regrets for the miscommunication with ASEAN NCAP on the top tether issue.

Proton declared they had overlooked to inform ASEAN NCAP on the omission of the top tether fitment in its current Saga model, crash tested by ASEAN NCAP in 2013.

This is what ASEAN NCAP has said in response to the issue:

Firstly, ASEAN NCAP would like to acknowledge the brave and commendable move by PROTON for admitting the omission of top tether. Secondly, ASEAN NCAP will follow through PROTON’s recovery action plan by offering free installation of the top tether to current Saga owners. Finally, ASEAN NCAP will conduct more engagement with PROTON management in order to prevent any miscommunication in the future.

ASEAN NCAP will update its final decision pertaining this matter during ASEAN NCAP Child Safety Day plan to be conducted on 11 November 2015 at Autoliv Hirotako Sdn. Bhd. in Balakong.
