At the Proton R&D centre, we were shown teasers of the new Perdana, though Tun Mahathir may unveil the car tomorrow. Though guarded under tight security, the silhouette of the new 2016 Proton Perdana is quite noticeable. There are also some difference between the car we saw at Proton’s R&D centre and the one from the Kapsul movie. As most of us know, the one shown in the Kapsul movie is a one-off, built specially for the movie.

From the silhouette, it is obvious that the Perdana will be getting a more obvious boot lid spoiler and a pair of revised wing mirrors. From what we gathered, the front end of the 2016 Perdana will be more than just a rebadge of the current Perdana. Proton has also revised the hood of the 2016 Perdana, giving it its signature contour in the centre of the hood. Unknown for now, is whether the 2016 Perdana will be using full LED headlights, or regular halogen headlights with projectors.

Thus far, we do know that the new Perdana will be riding on the eighth-generation Honda Accord’s platform, as well as sharing the Honda’s engine and gearbox.

Furthermore, during the preview, we were informed that the new Perdana measures 4,999 mm in length, an increase over the regular Accord’s 4,849 mm length. Other dimensions were not mentioned.

Proton has mentioned that the launch will happen next year, though exact date is unknown as yet. Stay tuned for more updates!
