Set to debut at this month’s Tokyo Motor Show is Suzuki’s all-new 2016 Ignis, a nameplate that will be reignited (pun intended) for 2016. We reckon the all-new Suzuki Ignis will go on sale next year.
Despite the small car nature of the Ignis, Suzuki has designed a rather bold front fascia for the Ignis, drawing inspiration from the new Vitara.
Compared to the Suzuki iM-4 concept car, the one previewed here features an almost-production ready design. Much of the design elements from the iM-4 has been retained, including the design of the front end, though the headlights and front foglights are less in-your-face than the ones on the concept. The three slits above the rear wheel arch has been redesigned to be more inconspicuous than the concept car’s. Photos of the Suzuki iM-4 concept can be found below.
As for the interior, there is a Mercedes-Benz-inspired floating touchscreen infotainment system for that added premium touch on a basic little hatchback. Like the Vitara, the Ignis also gets colour-matched panels. The rest of the interior looks production ready to us.
Expect Suzuki’s new Boosterjet range of engines to power the little Ignis. Now, if only Suzuki was developing a hotter Ignis Sport, a formidable throwback from the past, that would be cool.
