TC Euro Cars, the official distributor of Renault cars locally has previewed the upcoming Renault Clio GT. The Renault Clio GT will be positioned slightly below the hotter Clio RS in our market.
The Renault Clio GT packages the best of Renault Sport’s genes into a more affordable form. The front end of the Renault Clio GT has been watered down from its RS sibling, featuring a smaller lower air intake and a pair of LED daytime running lights. Unlike the Clio RS’s silver trim on the lower air intake, the Clio GT has silver trim surrounding the DRLs.
Fitted as standard on the Renault Clio GT are a set of 17-inch alloy wheels and silver wing mirrors. The aggressive rear air diffuser on the Clio RS has been replaced by a simpler looking bumper insert, with a simple single tip muffler completing the rear end.
Unlike the bigger brother’s 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, the milder Clio GT gets a Turbo Control Efficiency (TCe) 120 1.2-litre engine which pushes out 118 hp at 4,900 rpm and 190 Nm of torque from just 2,000 rpm. The Clio GT gets a six-speed dual-clutch automatic as the only transmission option. Standstill to 100 km/h takes just 9.9 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 199 km/h.
The Renault Clio GT gets the MediaNav infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display with USB, AUX, Bluetooth and navigation as standard fitment. The Clio GT also gets a pair of supportive seats up front, with appropriate GT stitching on the headrests. The red accents from the Clio RS has been replaced by a more subtle shade of grey.
Other kit includes the auto headlights with rain sensor, rear parking sensors, keyless entry with engine start stop, cruise control and speed limited and a one touch signal.
TC Euro Cars has set an estimated price of RM118,000 for the Renault Clio GT, with an additional RM5,000 for the Flame Red. The Renault Clio GT can also be had in Diamond Black, Glacier White and Malta Blue. Launch availability is slated for Q4 2015. Like all Renault cars, service intervals are every 10,000 km or six months, whichever comes first. The car also comes with a five year unlimited mileage warranty, which is fully-backed by Renault.
