At today’s Frankfurt Motor Show, Mazda has unveiled the Koeru crossover concept SUV. The new SUV from Mazda will likely enter production and likely compete in the premium crossover segment.
Likely to be called the Mazda CX-6, the Koeru concept has the same wheelbase as the current CX-5, at 2,700 mm, but the Koeru is longer, wider and sits lower to the ground than the CX-5. According to motoring.com.au, the Mazda Koeru could also be a preview of the next-generation CX-5.
The Koeru Concept sits on 21-inch wheels and features “premium level of refinement inside and out”. Mazda also said that the “enriched KODO shapes deliver outstanding aerodynamics and with it high-speed stability”. Inside, the Mazda Koeru features i-ACTIVSENSE and Mazda Connect, both of which will likely enter production.
True to the Jinba-ittai driving experience, the Koeru concept is said to have exceptional NVH technology that suppresses noise and vibration path. The result is a continually pursued responsive and exhilarating driving experience, according to Mazda.
Mazda has a history of putting its concept cars into production, like the Minari concept which turned into the Mazda CX5, Takeri concept which later became the Mazda 6 and the Hazumi which was later the Mazda 2. Perhaps this could evolve into another production vehicle.
