Spotted by a forum member over at the Civicx.com forums, the all-new 2016 Honda Civic has been caught undisguised! The official unveil of the all-new Civic is set to happen this Wednesday, 16 September 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Staying true to the Civic Concept‘s design, the Civic spotted here appears to be production ready, with a sloping roofline and a very sporty front and rear end. A vast improvement over the outgoing Honda Civic. This particular Civic appears to sport front LED headlights as well.
The all-new 2016 Honda Civic is also said to feature a new turbocharged powertrain, which is a first for a vanilla Honda Civic. Sharing the same engine as the Japanese Honda StepWGN and the Jade RS, the new 1.5-litre turbocharged VTEC engine is capable of pushing out 150 PS at 5,500 rpm and 203 Nm of torque from 1,600 rpm till 5,000 rpm. Expect Honda to offer a regular naturally-aspirated engine as well.
Buyers in the US will likely get the option of a 6-speed manual or a CVT, though engine and transmission combination will vary from market-to-market.
Excited? Hold you horses, as the 2016 Honda Civic is likely going on sale some time next year, after a debut later this year. It could take up to a year’s time before the new Civic arrives here, so stay tuned for more updates!
