Ford today announced August retail sales in Malaysia of 872 units, driven by continued demand for the Ranger, Fiesta and EcoSport nameplates.
The class-defining Ranger pickup continued as Ford’s best-selling nameplate in Malaysia, with retail sales of 651 units in August, helping year-to-date sales rise 17% to 6,171 units.
Offering an unmatched safety package in Malaysia, the Ranger is equipped with a range of active and passive safety features, including Ford’s Electronic Stability Control (ESC) across all variants, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats in the Wildtrak, XLT and XL Double Cab variants. All variants offer frontal impact airbags for the driver and passenger, while the Wildtrak also includes side and rear curtain airbags for enhanced protection.
The EcoSport compact urban SUV delivered a retail sales of 75 units in August, helping boost its year-to-date sales to 724 units. The EcoSport combines the agility of a compact passenger car with the flexibility, water-wading capability, superior fuel economy and an array of smart features including Ford’s in-car connectivity system SYNC.
The sporty Fiesta contributed to the August performance with retail sales of 108 units, helping drive its year-to-date sales to 943 units as demand continues for both its 1.5L Ti-VCT and 1.0L EcoBoost variants.
Ford will continue to build on the appeal of its Malaysia showroom before the end of the year with the upcoming launches of the new Ranger and all-new Everest, as well as the iconic Mustang.
“We’re looking forward to further increasing the appeal of our Malaysia showroom and vehicle lineup, and continuing with our ongoing efforts to ensure the very best customer and ownership experience,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.
