BMW Group Malaysia today introduced the new locally-assembled BMW X6 in the form of the BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport. The introduction of the CKD variant brings the price down by approximately RM50,000.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mr. Alan Harris, Managing Director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said, “The introduction of the locally-assembled BMW X6 marks the 9th model to join the portfolio of BMW Group Malaysia’s locally assembled vehicles. This is further testament to the longstanding investment and commitment we have here in Malaysia.”
Powering the locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six with 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque, which allows the new X6 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 240 km/h. Coupled with the standard eight-speed Steptronic automatic, the X6 can deliver an average fuel consumption of just 8.6 L/100km.
The new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport also features Air Curtains, Air Breathers and air vent that optimizes air flow and reduces fuel consumption. Underneath, the locally-assembled BMW X6 features double-wishbone front suspension and intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The Adaptive M Suspension is combined with the Dynamic Damper Control and pneumatic rear suspension comes as standard fitment as well.
Up front, the BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport features the signature BMW kidney grille, flanked by a pair of Adaptive LED headlights and LED fog lights, both which comes standard. The M Aerodynamics Package also includes 20-inch M double spoke light alloy wheels.
The cockpit of the X6 is adorned by Dakota leather upholstery. Customers can also opt for other exclusive trims. The locally-assembled X6 also features four-zone air conditioning and exclusive ambient lighting at shoulder height. The M Sport package also adds on electrically adjustable sports seats with memory function for the front seats, M leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and paddle shifters as well as Sport gear selector lever.
In terms of safety, the new BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport hosts a full suite of safety equipment, which includes Driving Assistant, a camera-based system which combines Lane Departure Warning with Approach Warning and Pedestrian Warning with city braking function. There’s also BMW’s own around view monitor, called Surround View 360. Drivers will also appreciate the inclusion of the high-definition, full-colour Head-Up Display and BMW Selective Beam, which is part of the BMW ConnectedDrive.
Available in four shades of colour, namely Alpine White, Flamenco Red, Carbon Black and Space Grey, the locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport can also be further customized with a range of Leather Dakota upholstery colour choices including Black, Coral Red and Cognac. The estimated price of the BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is RM 666,888, which includes with BMW Malaysia’s latest 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty and Free Scheduled Service Program but without insurance.
