Originally slated for a debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show next week, the all-new 2016 Renault Megane has been revealed ahead of time, thanks to carpassion.it.
Taking design cues from the larger Renault Talisman, the new Megane features a more matured front end, with a new pair of hook-shaped headlights surrounding a black curvy front grille. The sportier GT variant has black honeycomb-like grille inserts, while the regular Megane gets chrome inserts.
The 2016 Renault Megane also has a pair of swooping rear tail lights, with a contrasting rear diffuser flanked by a pair of exhaust mufflers. Definitely sportier than the outgoing model. The non GT variant gets a tamer black bumper insert and a single exhaust muffler.
Moving inside, the Renault Megane gets a large Tesla Model S-like large infotainment system which takes over most of the car’s controls. A thick, flat-bottomed steering wheel gives the GT variant a sportier appeal, and paddle shifters can be found behind the steering wheel.
Sitting on the Renault-Nissan Alliance CMF platform, the all-new 2016 Renault Megane will be fitted with a range of petrol and diesel engines. The GT variant shown here is likely to be slotted below the hot RS variant.
