The 2016 Volvo S90 will be replacing the existing Volvo S80, and photos of the die-cast version has emerged. This should give us a good look at Volvo’s new flagship sedan which is set for a global unveil in early 2016.
These photos emerged via Taobao, the popular Chinese online marketplace. Sources have informed Teknikens Värld that the 1:43 scale model shown here, is the real deal.
Taking design cues from the Volvo Concept Coupe from 2013, the new Volvo S90 certainly looks the part. A pair of LED daytime running lights resembling Thor’s Hammer surrounds the Volvo’s new corporate grille.
The rear end features a unique wrap-around tail lights and a short boot lid, giving the Volvo S90 a coupe-like appearance.
Powering the new Volvo S90 will be Volvo’s range of Drive-E engines, including the twincharged inline-four and a hybrid powertrain, and sits on the Scalable Product Architecture as the XC90.
Volvo is also working on the wagon variant of the S90, tentatively called the V90. Déjà vu much?
