Motoring journalists from Malaysia was given the opportunity to understand the new Caltex Euro4M Premium 97 with Techron, thanks to an educational workshop conducted by Chevron Malaysia Limited. Euro4M is the new fuel standard that has been mandated by the Government and comes into effect from 1 September 2015.
Senior Product Engineering Specialist, Team Leader Asia Pacific, Product Engineering, Greg Engeler provided his valuable insights on the development of the new Euro4M Caltex Premium 97 with Techron, as well as its benefits and technology behind the Euro4M fuel standard. Greg Engeler has extensive experience in the fuel industry through his 30 years at Caltex Australia Limited.
He said, “With the introduction of cleaner fuel standards such as Euro4M, infused into Caltex Premium 97 with Techron, motorists can be assured that their engines will be equipped with specially-formulated ingredients which would not only keep engines clean but also offers a maximization of power, fuel economy, smoother driver, lower emissions and reliable performance.”
The introduction of the Euro4M standard means that RON97 petrol will now carry less benzene and sulphur content. Reid Vapour Pressure (RVP) has also been reduced to improve vehicle operability. The reduction of sulphur content means that it enables the introduction of clean and efficient vehicle technologies. Compared to the outgoing Euro2M fuel, the Euro4M fuel standard only allows for a maximum of 50 ppm in terms of sulphur content.
Chevron Malaysia Limited’s Country Chairman, Shahid Ahmed said, “The quality of fuel today is becoming increasingly important to ensure good vehicle performance. Without the right fuel, the engine won’t perform as well as it was designed to perform. We are committed to ensuring our customers are equipped with the best fuel and at Caltex, we are always looking for ways to make our customers’ journey enjoyable and memorable – be it in the form of products or services.”
