Following BMW Group Malaysia’s teaser photo on their official Facebook page that surfaced just a few days ago, the company has finally lifted the covers off its facelift BMW 640i Gran Coupé.
With an estimated price tag of RM 788,800*, the BMW 640i Gran Coupé is now more dynamic and sophisticated with an “injected expression of sportiness” thanks to its M Sport Package now fitted as standard.
The M Sport package offers the M Aerodynamic kit which includes front and rear apron as well as sill covers on the side in body colour. As for the rear, the M Sport package offers a sportier bumper trim in Dark Shadow Metallic to contrast the body colour to further differentiate the M Sport identity.
The front end of the new BMW 640i Gran Coupés’ new design cues include redesigned Adaptive LED headlights and Selective Beam, both featured as standard as well as indicators which are positioned in the accent line above the headlights and in the exterior mirrors.
The two halves of the redesigned kidney grille, meanwhile, appear larger with 9 grille slats with matt black sides angled slightly towards the top to accentuate the “shark nose” character of the front end. Additional new sporting accents highlighted in the new BMW 640i Gran Coupé include a dynamically designed chrome element on the outer air inlets in the front apron and a horizontal trim element within the air inlets.
The rear end of the new BMW 640i Gran Coupé, which design is made of clearly structured surfaces and horizontal lines, add further presence to the car’s impressive sporting capabilities and blends with the new horizontal chrome element below the license plate bay to further emphasise the sophistication of the sports coupé.
The conspicuously flared wheel arches and underbody meanwhile, accentuates the car’s wide track and underline the horizontally structured character of the rear end; as well as further reduce drag and enhance fuel efficiency. The new BMW 640i Gran Coupé also arrives with 19-inch M double-spoke light alloy wheels as standard.
Inside, the characteristics of the new BMW 640i Gran Coupé is further emphasised with the presence of a centre console in a black panel finish while the central Information Display now features a frameless design. This is combined with the in-plane switching (IPS) technology to not only provide a more sophisticated appearance, but also less dependence on viewing angle and improved visibility in sunlight.
Another efficient upgrade to the new BMW 640i Gran Coupé is the “seatbelt parking” function, which serves to enhance the convenience of front seat passengers. It reduces pull to ensure the belt fits comfortably and once unfastened, an electric motor will assist with retraction of the seat belt.
Further emphasising luxurious ambience in the car, the new BMW 640i Gran Coupé is now fitted with bicolour Nappa leather upholstery in Ivory White/Black or Cognac/Black.
Under the hood, power is supplied by a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder in-line engine that is capable of generating a maximum output of 320hp with torque peaking at 450Nm. This enable the new sports coupé to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds at a top speed of 250 km/h. Despite the impressive acceleration power, the new BMW 640i Gran Coupé remains economical with an average fuel economy of 7.8 litres/100km and C02 emissions of just 182 grams per kilometre.
Further highlighting the performance credentials of the BMW 640i Gran Coupé is the presence of a new sports exhaust system with an adjustable flap. Featured as standard, this new sports exhaust system provides a particularly sporty sound when the new BMW 640i Gran Coupé is set in Sport mode, thereby further emphasising the new sports coupé’s ability to deliver sportiness, spaciousness, convenience, excellent everyday usability, exemplary efficiency and ultimately, the sheer driving experience of a BMW.
