True to its commitment to further improve the level of service to all Kia owners in the country, Naza Kia Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Kia Motors vehicles in Malaysia, held their prize-presentation ceremony recently for the winners of the Regional Skill World Cup 2013. This is the fourth time in a row Naza Kia Malaysia has played host to the event.
“It is vital to motivate and encourage technicians to upgrade their technical service ability and knowledge. Stronger technical skills lead to improved quality perceptions which in turn results in higher customer satisfaction. This is where the Regional Skill World Cup 2013 comes into play. Qualified KIA technicians from around the world were invited to participate in this event where they showcased their skills and demonstrated the core value of Kia’s after sales philosophy – Fix it Right the First Time,” said Encik Roshdy Hassan, General Manager of Operations of Naza Kia Malaysia.
The Regional Skill World Cup 2013 is a biannual event organised by Kia Motors Corporation (KMC) with Malaysia serving as the host country. Participating countries include Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei and Vietnam.
The participants from these countries went through three levels of competition. The first level was the National Skill World Cup which took place on November 2013 in Malaysia. There were six winners. From the six winners, the first and second-place winners were selected to compete in the Regional World Skill Cup. The third and final level is the Kia World Skill Cup taking place at Korea in June 2014 where the six best technicians from the Regional World Skill Cup will participate in.
Prior to the Skill Cup three levels, all participating technicians were given a written test in the first round. The second, third, fourth and fifth round were practical tests whereby the participants had to do trouble-shooting and rectifying an engine, transmission, electrical and chassis problems on a real vehicle.
The first prize was awarded to the first winner who won certification, a gold medal and mini iPad. The two second-prize winners won certification, a silver medal and a digital camera each. Third prize went to the three winners, all of whom won certification, a bronze medal and a KIA watch each.
The Regional Skill World Cup took place at the Overseas Training Centre (OTC) Malaysia. Originally opened on March 2006 in Gurun, the centre was relocated to NKM Setapak on January 2013. The 8,245 square foot centre was opened to enhance automotive skills in Sales, Aftersales and other related departments with facilities such as an office, meeting room, lecture room, cafeteria, computer room, library, workshop classroom and practice room.
Currently, there are 5 OTCs in the world – America, Germany, Ukraine, Dubai and Malaysia.
“The Overseas Training Centre Malaysia establishment has been an invaluable tool as it helps Kia technicians to improve their skills and knowledge. Hence, we are embarking on a global aftersales standard by introducing the Family-Like Care plus (FLC+) Programme as our long-term commitment to customer satisfaction,” said Encik Roshdy.
The Family-Like Care plus (FLC+) Programme is available at all Kia outlets where customers will be provided with three compulsory services: Multi-Point Inspection (MPI), New Vehicle Handover and Car Wash. Customers are entitled to free multi-point inspection when they get their vehicles serviced at Kia authorised outlets. During vehicle handover, the consultant will introduce the new Kia owner to a Service Advisor and elaborate on the technical aspects of the vehicle. A complimentary car wash will be provided for all vehicles upon completion of servicing.
Additionally, Naza Kia Malaysia will be launching the Optima Facelift in January 2014, a premium D-segment sedan that cements its status as a trailblazer of combining style and substance in an affordably priced vehicle with premium amenities and convenience options. Kia Motors is the official partner of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. In conjunction with the partnership, Naza Kia Malaysia will be running activities for the public to participate in. More information will be revealed in January 2014.
