Toyota Classics, the company’s signature corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme in arts and culture, will be showcasing the internationally acclaimed Hungarian theater company Budapest Operetta and Musical Theatre at 7 Asian countries this year.
The 26th Toyota Classics annual concert tour will delight audiences in Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam, this October. In Malaysia, the Budapest Operetta and Musical Theatre will be performing on 19th October 2015 at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas.
According to UMW Toyota Motor Deputy Chairman, Mr Akio Takeyama, “Since its inception in 1990, Toyota Classics has held over 184 sell-out classical concerts in Asia, and helped to promote classical music in these countries. Toyota Classics’ tagline ‘Music that Moves Lives’ encapsulates its objective and spirit, which is to enrich lives through the appreciation of classical music”.
“The concert is a fundraising initiative, a corporate social responsibility effort of the company,to raise funds to assist and finance community and environmental projects carried by non-governmental organizations (NGOs)” he said.
The full ticket sales proceeds from the Toyota Classics concerts are donated to local charities to help different disadvantaged groups. To date, Toyota Classics concert series has raised approximately RM26 million over the last 25 years.
With sold-out tickets and corporate donations from numerous organizations, the Toyota Classics concerts in Malaysia have raised RM7.5 million to benefit 60 charitable and non-governmental organisations.
This year, for the first time, Toyota Classics concert series has introduced a new theme which is “Wildlife Protection and Conservation,” and 3 NGOs have been chosen as the 2015 recipients. The proceeds, which targeted at RM365,000 will be awarded to three organizations which are the Borneo Conservation Trust, Malaysian Nature Society and World Wide Fund for Nature, Malaysia.
Toyota Classics 2015 tickets sales begin today, 4th August, 2015 and are priced at RM265, RM212, RM159 and RM106, and can be purchased now from the Box Office, Dewan Filharmonik Petronas.
This year’s one night gala will be graced by His Royal Highness (HRH) Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj, the Sultan of Selangor. Former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and wife, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and His Excellency Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia Dr. MakioMiyagawa are amongst dignitaries attending the concert as well.
