The all-new 2015 Suzuki GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F were recently launched in line with the World Superbike race day at the Sepang International Circuit.
Both machines are derived from the legendary GSX-R1000 (commonly known as the “gixxer”) and almost similar to the new MotoGP bike GSX-RR (Suzuki technical guys call it “Double R”). The new GSX-S models bears the same technology and components as the GSX-R, designed specially for street riding comfort.
The GSX-S bikes are powered by a 999 cc four-stroke, liquid cooled, DOHC, inline four engine. The new engine is said to deliver power smoother, offer better throttle response, as well as controlled acceleration and is paired to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.
While both the new machines sport the exact same engine and chassis, the most important and only difference is that one is a naked and the other is a faired model. When compared to the current Gixxer in production, this new GSX-S line up features a longer stroke which is better tuned to produce more low to mid range torque. The transmission however does not come with a slipper clutch unlike the Gixxer.
The two new machines also come with Suzuki Traction Control that allow riders to adjust the sensitivity of the entire system to suit the road condition. The traction control also has an anti-spin system which helps to regain traction when it detects rear spin.
The two GSX-Ss is also fitted with ABS as a standard safety feature alongside the twin 310 mm brake discs all round, KYB inverted forks and a comprehensive dashboard, which includes dual trip meters, speedometer and gear indicator.
Basic sales price for the naked GSX-S starts at RM68,400 while the faired one at RM74,400, both prices are not inclusive of GST. Buyers can choose between red, blue and grey as their colour option.
