As part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), UMW Toyota Motor recently donated a Toyota Hilux to Yayasan Anak-Anak Yatim Sultanah Haminah (YAASH), Alor Setar, Kedah.
According to the automaker, the Toyota Hilux will be used by the foundation to facilitate its charitable activities and community work with regards to the well-being of orphans in Kedah.
UMW Toyota Motor Deputy Chairman, Mr Akio Takeyama handed over a mock key to Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah, who is the patron to the foundation in a simple ceremony at its premises in Alor Setar. Also attended the ceremony was UMW Toyota President, Datuk Ismet Suki.
Yayasan Anak-Anak Yatim Sultanah Haminah (YAASH) was established in 2011 with the aim of taking care of the well-being and welfare of orphans who are poor and without or little proper supervision. These orphans regardless of their academic achievements and levels are placed under the care of the foundation and they are considerably independent.
At the ceremony, Datuk Ismet expressed hope that the Toyota Hilux would physically support the foundation’s noble effort in its community and charitable work in assisting poor orphans in the State so that they could be given sufficient care and supervision.
“It is important that these children are given proper guidance particularly the education so that they will be on the right direction for the betterment of their life in the future,” he said, adding that he commended the foundation in taking a step in addressing the issue of education-lagging amongst orphans in the State.
Datuk Ismet also said the donation was part of the philanthropic pillars in the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and that it continually sought opportunities such as this to contribute to the communities where the company operates its business.
