The 2013 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG was not by any means a slouch, as it had 355 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque at your disposal. With the arrival of the facelifted model, Mercedes-Benz has increased the power, now with 381 hp and 475 Nm of torque.
Dubbed as the baby AMG, the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG packs the smallest engine that AMG has, which is a 2-litre four cylinder that has been turbocharged. As mentioned earlier, this handbuilt engine now pumps out 381 horsepower and 475 Nm of torque. Engineers at Mercedes-Benz revised the valve assembly, reconfigured timing and turbochargers to achieve the full 381 hp. Boost remains at 1.8 bar.
Impressive numbers indeed. Mercedes-Benz has also revised the gear ratios on the facelifted A45 AMG, which allows the car to sprint to 100 km/h from standstill in just 4.2 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the pre-facelifted model. Gears from 3rd to 7th has been shortened, which allows for better acceleration at any speed.
“We never rest on our laurels, but constantly strive to develop our products further,” says Tobias Moers, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “The A45 still had so much improvement potential that we felt compelled to realise it to the full. Our brand claim simply obliges us to.”
The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG also comes with the ne AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, which the driver can select between “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual” modes when he sees the need. The “Individual” mode allows the driver to configure every parameter of the engine, transmission and ESP.
Aerodynamics has also been enhanced on the A45 AMG, with the addition of a new front bumper with revised front skirt and side canards. The rear bumper and rear spoiler has also been revised to aid in aerodynamics. Also standard to the facelifted A45 AMG is the LED High Performance headlamps with eyebrows as LED daytime running lights.
Sales will begin in Europe in September 2015, a bit later than the regular A-Class facelift.
