A few years ago, people would laugh at you if you said you wanted to download a car, but now, thanks to Ford, it is now possible. Yes folks, you can officially download and 3D print a Ford.
Granted, you can’t actually download a full-scale Ford model, but you can download or order the Ford of your choice from Ford’s own 3D store here.
From their site, customers can choose from a variety of Ford models to download, ranging from the newly launched Shelby GT350R, 2016 Ford GT, Fiesta ST, Focus ST or even the hot new Focus RS.
Customers have the option of buying a 1:32 scale model off Ford’s website, that has been professionally 3D printed by TurboSquid, or downloading the .STL file and 3D print it themselves. The pre-printed plastic 3D models will cost $39 (RM146.58) while the .STL file will cost $4.99 (RM18.73). Both prices are offered for a limited time only.
Ford has definitely taken the right step embracing new technologies with this 3D printing program. As car enthusiasts, we certainly look forward to more car manufacturer jumping onto the 3D printing bandwagon.
