At the BMW Safety 360º campaign that aims to create safety awareness for road users in Malaysia, BMW Group Malaysia has unveiled the locally-assembled BMW 120i M Sport.
This latest model builds on the winning formula of its predecessors to deliver an all-new sporting spirit in the premium compact class segment. As the only rear-wheel drive vehicle in its segment with 50:50 weight distribution, the BMW 1 Series is now further enhanced with the M Sport package as standard, including the M Aerodynamic Kit, the M Leather Steering Wheel and 18-inch M Sport alloy wheels with M Sport Suspension.
Further to this, the level of standard equipment on the BMW 1 Series is now even higher with new mobility services added from BMW ConnectedDrive – all of which make the BMW 1 Series not only sportier but also more elegant than ever.
While its proportions, lines and surface design bear all the classical hallmarks of a BMW, the front now features a new design with distinctive LED daytime running lights featured as standard. The wider kidney grille elements and flattened headlights are also now spaced together to deliver an even more dynamic front appearance and is combined with larger air inlets under the headlights.
For the first time, LED headlights and Adaptive LED headlights are also made available as options, a feature that will follow the path of the road ahead and adapt their beam according to the road conditions at any given moment. At the rear, new LED taillights with the signature BMW L-shaped design as well as redesigned tailgate and rear bumper lends the BMW 1 Series a sporty look.
The interior of the BMW 120i M Sport now also features Alcantara and Cloth seats and upholstery. The sport seats in the BMW 120i M Sport also arrive with electrical adjustment functionality as standard.
The car also boasts the largest-in-class display monitor with its 8.8” free standing screen on its dashboard area which in typical BMW character, is oriented towards the driver of the car. Another segment leading feature in the BMW 120i M Sport is Driver Experience Control which features the Sport mode to further set the car’s position as the most dynamic car in its segment.
At the heart of the BMW 120i M Sport is a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that generates a total output of 177hp and 250Nm of torque, with the ability to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.2 seconds with a top speed of 222km/h. These figures are paired with an average fuel consumption reading of 5.9 l/100km and a CO2 emissions level of 137g/km.
In terms of tech and gizmos, the BMW ConnectedDrive Apps interface enables the use of various functions, among them is to access the BMW ConnectedDrive app. With a smartphone connected, drivers and passengers can access services such as Spotify, Amazon Cloud Player and others via the BMW Apps menu. The BMW 120i M Sport also features the latest Professional Navigation system with Touch Controller featured as standard, as well as Comfort Access system which enables convenient ingress and egress of the vehicle.
Colours available for the BMW 120i M Sport include Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, Mineral Grey and Estoril Blue.
The estimated retail prices (on the road, without insurance with BMW Malaysia’s latest 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty and Free Scheduled Service Program) of the BMW 120i M Sport is RM219,800.
