Isuzu Malaysia has officially launched the new Isuzu MU-X into our local market! The Isuzu MU-X is the SUV sibling to the popular D-Max and is set to challenge the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in Malaysia.
From the outside, especially from the front, there are not many visual changes from its pickup sibling. Perhaps the most obvious difference is the addition of the LED daytime running lights on the 4×4 variant. The 4×4 variant also benefits from a new rear spoiler. The 4×2 variant gets 16-inch wheels with 245/70R16 rubbers, while the range-topping 4×4 variant gets 17 inch wheels with 255/65/R17 rubbers all around.
The interior of the Isuzu MU-X is adorned with leather, as both variants feature leather seats. The multi-function steering wheel is also wrapped in leather, if you’re wondering. The Isuzu MU-X features an Android-powered Blaupunkt with 6 speakers, Bluetooth, Mirror Link and USB connectivity. While both 4×2 and 4×4 variants feature the same head unit, the 4×4 variant adds on navigation and a reverse camera.
Powering both variants of the Isuzu MU-X is a 2.5-litre inline-4 VGS turbodiesel with 136 PS at 3,400 rpm and 320 Nm of torque from 1,800 rpm – 2,800 rpm. Both variants feature a 5-speed automatic with Tiptronic, with the 4×4 featuring a Terrain Command selector. That enables the 4×4 variant to switch the system on-the-fly, of speeds of up to 100 km/h.
Safety wise, the Isuzu MU-X comes with 2 front SRS airbags, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. The Isuzu MU-X also features traction control, stability control and Isofix mounts across the range.
Isuzu Malaysia has prices the Isuzu MU-X from RM151,944 for the 4×2 variant, 4×4 variant will retail for RM164,969. Both prices are OTR with insurance & GST. Prices are subject to change after the end of July. A total of four colours will be made available, namely Titanium Silver, Cosmic Black, Uluru Brown and Splash White.
