Heels & Wheels: ZTH’s Time to Attack

heels-tta2 (2)

AF was in Sepang Int. Circuit last weekend to cover the second leg of Malaysia’s premier time attack event,  ZeroToHundred’s Time to Attack (TTA). Yours truly covered the event from afternoon until five in the evening while Mark covered the remaining in the dark. Time attack is basically a sprint race where the drivers with the best and fastest timed lap around the track will win. Various categories were contested from the Super Street, 2WD, 4WD, Euro machines, GT-R and the time attack machines.

The horrid weather saw heavy rain showers come and go, which translated to a wet track surface, providing obstacles for TTA participants, who came from the top two countries with the most expensive cars on this planet. As expected, there was a wide variety of exotic machines, with fast cars from both East and West represented at this event.

Here are some of the images caught prior to the action. Before we headed into the pits, there was a wide variety of machines found off the track.

Inside the garages, mechanics and engineers ran against the clock to tune and setup the vehicles before the time attack started. Apart from raw horsepower and suspension settings, aerodynamics played a paramount role in these machines, which explains why there are larger splinters, wings and diffusers found on some of the machines here.

Time attack is all about achieving the best and fastest lap possible and the wet surface, no thanks to torrential rain, meant there wouldn’t be any new records set. Many of the drivers were cautious while trying their very best to become leaders in their respectable categories. The ferocious rain which came on and off, not only decreased visibility on the track, but also caused spectators and photographers to run helter-skelter.

Nevertheless, shooting during rain does translate to dramatic photography, as seen on the pictures below.

Last but not least, seeing this is a post under the Heels & Wheels section,  there were a good number of beautiful fair maidens that represented a few brands at this event. Here are just a few for your viewing pleasure!
