During next month’s New York International Auto Show, Scion will be unveiling their latest subcompact sedan, called the iA. According to TopSpeed, the new Scion iA will be a rebadged Mazda 2 Sedan. Wait, what??
Despite the fact that Scion has not officially released the car, the folks at TheTruthAboutCars have stated that this render is 99.9% accurate. Not much has changed from the Mazda 2, as the main changes are limited to just the front fascia, which includes headlights and a new front bumper, which bears more than just a passing resemblance to a Mitsubishi ‘jet-fighter’ grille.
Under the hood, the new Scion iA will be powered by Mazda’s SkyActiv-G 1.5-litre engine with 106 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. Buyers should be getting the choice of either a six speed automatic or a six speed manual. The new Scion iA will be assembled at Mazda’s new production plant located in Mexico.
