Ford has announced its February sales performance in Malaysia with overall retail sales jumping 66% year-over-year to 1,249 units, led by continued strength in demand for the Ranger pickup truck.
“Our award-winning Ranger continues to lead the charge across our whole lineup, allowing us to welcome more and more Malaysian customers to the Ford family as our momentum grows,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.
As the number 2 best-selling pickup truck in Malaysia, the popularity of the Ford Ranger continued to expand as retail sales surged 104% year-over-year to 966 units.
“Our customers tell us that it’s the Ranger’s class-leading safety features and extraordinary capability they value most, whether transporting the family in Kuala Lumpur or hauling a heavy loads in Sarawak,” said Westerman.
Meanwhile, the sporty Fiesta delivered sales of 129 units in February, led by the 1.0L EcoBoost variant. The EcoSport compact urban SUV on the other hand, contributed sales of 66 units in February.
Speaking of the popular pick-up truck, Ford Malaysia is set to debut the new Ranger enhanced with a new look and cutting edge technologies. The pick-up truck will be unveiled at the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show before making its way to Malaysia later this year.
