This is a follow up piece of my tyre review articles. Do check out my earlier articles to get a better context of the story.

I have finally hit the magical number of 100,000km mileage on my car and so far I have used this set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres for a good 30,000km. As I have mentioned over my series of articles, I have used this same set of tyres for a track day held last year in November and still the tyres has quite a fair bit of thread and grip left.

As I am typing this, I just had a morning run with my mates up to Genting Highlands. Now over the months I have done several runs, may it be up to Goh Tong Jaya for coffee, or through the winding roads of Kuala Kelawang or up the hill towards Cameron Highlands via Sungai Koyan. What I am surprised that these set of tyres still offer me plenty of grip.

Of course it may not be as grippy as when I first have gotten them but after using them for 30,000km, I still feel the grip and I can take corners confidently. Although there are certain parts up the hill this morning where my traction control lights were blinking, there wasn’t a time where I lost any grip or had to intentionally slow down because I lost confidence in the tyres.

In all honesty, I am pleasantly surprised that after using these tyres for almost a year, it still has plenty of thread left and still maintains it’s dry grip. Emphasis on the word “dry” as the performance of the tyres are different on wet roads.

As it starts getting wet (the road), I feel that the tyres are slowly losing it’s amazing grip after the 30,000km mark. As I have learned from experts, there are many types of road conditions when it is wet. The first condition is the part when it starts to rain, a slight drizzle if you must describe it. This is when small amounts of water start to mix with oil already on the road, causing the road to be very slippery. At times like this, I will definitely slow down to a more comfortable pace as the tyres struggle now to get grip.

The second condition is when it is absolutely pouring cats and dogs. Due to the immense amount of rain water, the roads are washed off of the oil and debris, causing the roads to actually be in a better state, allowing for the tyres to get more grip. In this condition, the Asymmetric 2 still shines quite well even after 30,000km.

In a nutshell, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres performs well even after heavy and prolonged usage and I would recommend for all especially for those who would like an all rounder, for both in dry and wet grip.
