McLaren 675LT officially unveiled!

McLaren 675LT - 1

You’ve seen its leaked photos, now, McLaren has taken the wraps-off the hotter version of its 650S supercar called the 675LT. This track-focussed supercar will make its global debut at the upcoming 2015 Geneva Motor Show next week.

Offered in Coupé body-style, the 675LT is powered by a 3.8-litre V8 Twin Turbo that is capable of producing a ‘demonic’ 666bhp and 700Nm. It can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, while acceleration continues at relentless pace with the 200 km/h barrier broken in 7.9 seconds, on to a top-speed of 330 km/h.

More than 50% of parts have been changed in the 3.8-litre V8 engine to deliver increased levels of power, torque and driveability. Upgrades include new, more efficient turbos, detail design changes to the cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds, new camshaft and lightweight connecting rods, and a faster-flowing fuel pump and delivery system. These changes are so significant, that the engine unit receives a new, unique code – M838TL.

McLaren 675LT - 5

Although the 675LT is best driven around a track, it is still road legal. Yet, like its iconic predecessor, the McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’, from which the LT name is derived, this is a car that is as exciting to look at as it is to drive. It also embodies the key attributes of the ‘Longtail’ ethos targeting light weight, optimised aerodynamics, increased power, track-focused dynamics and driver engagement.

For instance, McLaren managed to shed-off 100 kg of weight in the 675LT compared to the 650S, making for a total kerb weight of only 1,230 kg. Carbon fibre is of course used extensively around the car, in such places as the rear bumper and seat shells.

McLaren 675LT - 4

The 675LT is offered in five ‘By McLaren’ hero specifications, which includes 4 new bespoke colours: Silica White, Delta Red, Napier Green and Chicane Grey. The famous McLaren Orange completes the themes unique to the model. Each of the 5 ‘By McLaren’ specifications is complemented within the stripped out interior with carefully selected materials and colours.

Inside the cabin you will find  pair carbon fibre-shelled bucket seats, upholstered in Alcantara and a 675LT logo features on the headrest of each seat, and is also present on the rev counter. The air conditioning controls on the other hand, are incorporated within the intuitive touchscreen infotainment system.
