Peugeot’s B-segment hatchback, the 208 has been using the same face since its introduction in 2012, and 3 years later, the facelift has arrived. Peugeot will be showcasing the facelifted 208 at the Geneva Motor Show next week, with several enhancements, not least of which is the new colour!
Up front, the facelifted Peugeot 208 has a whole new front bumper that features a new, larger “Equalizer” front grille, new headlights and a new front foglight surround. Moving to the rear, the tail lights now feature a 3D LED design. The facelift model will also gain a new range of exterior body colours. One of the new colour introduced is Orange Power, which Peugeot says, “With its lively appeal, this very trendy and joyful colour sparkles and enhances the overall look and feel of the vehicle.”
Safety wise, the Peugeot 208 now comes with Active City Brake and the Reversing camera. Active City Brake is designed to stop the vehicle from colliding in urban conditions if the driver fails to react on time. The system is good for speeds of up to 30 km/h.
Under the hood, the Peugeot 208 features the same engine lineup as before (European market), but out goes the archaic 4 speed automatic, now replaced with a new EAT 6 (Efficient Automatic Transmission 6) 6-speed automatic. It would be interesting to see if this new EAT6 transmission will make an appearance locally.
The facelifted Peugeot 208 will be on sale (in Europe) from June 2015 onwards.
