Lotus has just unveiled the newest variant of their sports car, the Lotus Evora 400. The new Evora 400 is Lotus’ fastest and most powerful production Lotus ever, with a lighter weight coupled with improved driving dynamics.
The Lotus Evora 400 boasts over two thirds of new components, with a new supercharged and charge-cooled mid-mounted 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 400 horsepower and 410 Nm of torque, a healthy increase of 55 horsepower over the Evora S. Thanks to the new aluminium chassis and lightweight composite body, the Evora 400 sheds some 22 kg over its predecessor, which enables the Evora 400 to sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 300 km/h. The Lotus Evora 400 is able to lap the test track at the Lotus Headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk, six seconds quicker than its predecessor.
Apart from the new engine, the wheels and brakes also sees a makeover. Up front, the two-piece, cross-drilled and ventilated brake discs measure in at 370 mm, while the rear brakes comes in at 350 mm. The wheels are now lightweight forged aluminium, with 19-inch wheels up front, and 20-inch wheels at the rear, both wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres.
Jean-Marc Gales, Chief Executive Officer for Group Lotus plc said, “A requirement for all Lotus cars is to be a benchmark for handling, to be the quickest car from A to B and to provide the driver with a pure and involving driving experience. The Evora 400 is the fastest road-going Lotus that we have ever produced, possessing performance that can only be matched by cars costing significantly more. It delivers supercar looks allied to supercar performance.”
“Our dealer network stands at 168 worldwide, which is still growing to reach 200 dealers by the end of 2015, while our sales volumes have increased by over 50% in the last 10 months. The new Lotus Evora 400 will make its mark as a significant milestone in the history of Lotus. Looking to the future, the Lotus Evora 400 will remain core to our product line up for many years to come, with more exciting derivatives planned within the next few years,” Jean-Marc continued.
The new Lotus Evora 400 will enter production in summer, with deliveries starting in August this year. As for the price, Lotus will announce it when the car approaches the on-sale date.
